Land for the production of energy…we can not be dependent of oil anymore, we should stop the production of CO2, otherwise our shores will be flood, our ecosystems will crash. Al Gore, George Bush, Lula da Silva…and more genius have given their opinion about our planet, they are our leaders, the G8, Berlusconi, Sarkozy…how lucky we could be?, we are in the best hands that we could be.
This is totally clean people, low energy consumption, low budget operation, good examples for the next generations, they do not repeat our previous mistakes, they understood how the new times are demanding new solutions, new strategies and new ways to deal with the reality. No more imperial attitude, we are all the same, no difference according to our culture, race, social status…same opportunities for all…how lucky we could be?, we have green leaders.
We are happy to read their stories in newspapers, blogs, websites…watch TV, listen radio..we need entertainment since we forgot why we are here. Is it to have a car? a house? a family? the computer? FAME? be good? be bad?…we need to know indeed? is a matter of questions not about answers.
Meanwhile I write from my laptop made out of 65% of oil, seated in a nylon and plastic based chair and desktop, connected through cables made of some polymer, acrylic, bottles, buttons, mouse, pen, cd, fan, air conditioner, tire, door, key, lamp, machine, printer, bag, book…it is about energy and moving things?Tags: barcelona, berlusconi, bush, caracas, comunidad, energy, g8, la victoria, merkel, oil, rec, rec comunidad audiovisual, sarkozy, tomas diez
This video and the music were produced by Szymon Kabala, a young polish artist from Poznan. We knew about him because his sister: Dorota Kabala, also an artist and IaaC Student. We have an interpretation about this video related with existing interconnections between small and big components of a system, in this case a part of the city lives inside the city, can fly over the streets but it is concentrated somewhere else. The question could be: are they part of it?

Open Source design seminar is being taught by Victor Viña and Tomas Diez during the third term of the Master in Advanced Architecture at IaaC. This seminar is about the digital production of furniture and the usage of the Open Source concept to share this designs through the Internet using the IaaC Blog as platform. Nevertheless this project is looking forward to the creation of an online platform in which each user could customize and design furniture and then download the files to be printed in any Fab Lab of the world, or using any Digital Fabrication laboratory.
The projects were based on the usage of corrugated cardboard (different thickness) and the Laser Cutter machine.Tags: barcelona, caracas, comunidad, design, digital fabrication, Fab Lab, fab lab venezuela, la victoria, open source, rec comunidad audiovisual, reccomunidad, tomas diez
rec is a web based community that aims to gather together experiences, knowledge and energy for the construction of new realities. Since more than 10 years, rec has been exploring the possibility of producing changes through the use of different media such as music, graphics and literature, now we are exploring into the audiovisual media and digital fabrication technologies.
This dream started in La Victoria, a small town located in the northern center of Venezuela. We lived the changes of a small town to a small semi-city, then to discover Caracas, the capital; we have been discovering a multicultural, multi-connected and multi-layered reality, built by all of us: you, me, him, and them.Tags: audiovisual, caracas, comunidad, digital fabrication, la victoria, new realities, rec, rec community, reccomunidad, venezuela
The Fab Labs are Fabrication (or Fabulous) Laboratories where you can make (almost) anything, depending on your imagination and desires. Imagine the possibility of building your own things on your desktop: What would you create? Start to think about it… The Mobile Fab Lab will across different states of the US to bring this new reality to the people: Digital Fabrication…to go!
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia participates in different projects with the MIT Center for Bits and Atoms. The latest one is a Mobile Fab Lab which is crossing the United States with all the components of a Fab Lab inside: Laser Cutter, Modela Milling Machine, Vinyl Cutter, CNC, and all the tools needed to make (almost) anything. Tomas Diez, Fab Lab Barcelona Project Manager, is part of the team with Amy Sun (MIT CBA) and Kenny Cheung (MIT CBA). The project aims bring Digital Fabrication to be accesible to the common people and develop educational programs about materialization.Tags: barcelona, caracas, comunidad, diseño, Fab Lab, rec comunidad audiovisual, reccomunidad, tomas diez, urbanismo, venezuela
